Summary
It must be more than a coincidence that Liverpool Riverside, one of the poorest constituencies in the UK, also provides the lowest turnout, the argument goes on. This is a case, however, of compelling evidence leading to the wrong conclusions. The people of Riverside undoubtedly feel alienated, but they know that their votes count for virtually nothing. Labour has sent an MP to Westminster from there for as long as anyone can remember. The same can be said of certain Conservative heartlands.
