Summary


Now that [Reid] has made his announcement, [McConnell] is even more furious with the English Health Secretary. Reid, an ex-chain-smoker, had tried to get the Scots to allow smoking in all pubs on the basis that it was a "working-class pleasure". If McConnell had backed down then Reid would have been able to say that he was being even tougher than the Scots. This spat is good news for the Chancellor, however, who will be happy that they hate each other even more that they hate him.
